Kayaking  Ian Wood, fluent in French as well as English, has lived in France for many years.  He offers trips in the Bay of Mont Saint Michel and along the Normandy and Brittany coasts.  He also guides walkers across the Bay of Mont St Michel.

Golf  There are many excellent golf courses in the area.  These include Les Ormes, Le Tronchet, Granville, DinardRennes and St Malo.

Horse riding   The nearest horse riding is at St James, tel +33 2.33.68.36.07.  There is also horse riding at La Tanière, Moidrey, near to Mont St Michel.

Tennis  There is a tennis court in Montanel village, and a tennis club in St James, tel +33.2.33.48.25.06.

Fishing  There are many lakes and rivers where you can fish, plus sea fishing along the coast of Normany and Brittany.  Click here for information.

Cycling  There are bicycles for your use at La Pruneraie (please bring your own helmets, though we do have a couple for you to borrow).  There are also two child seats for the bikes.  The countryside is a delight for cycling and you'll find the majority of the roads are quiet and with very little traffic.  The tourist office has leaflets of suggested cycle routes around the Bay of Mont St Michel, which take you along quiet, countryside lanes.

There are some dedicated cycle paths ("voies vertes"), e.g. from Pontaubault to St Hilaire via Mortain, and from Antrain to St Brice en Coglès.  There is a very quiet road, formerly a railway track, that runs from Antrain to Pontorson, which is almost traffic-free.  You can also cycle from Rennes to Dinard via Dinan along the tow paths of the River Rance and the Ille and Rance Canal.

Assault course  If you fancy some adventure, go to the Forest of Villecartier.  There are various assault courses at different levels of difficulty for adults and children.  For those without a head for heights, walk through the forest and around the lake instead, or take a boat out on the lake.

Swimming  There are swimming pools at St Brice en Coglès (opened 2011), Fougères and Avranches.  If your prefer to swim in the sea, then there are safe, sandy beaches nearby at Carolles, Jullouville, Kairon Plage and St Malo.

Walking  There are numerous walks, including the "voies vertes" and tow paths (see Cycling above).  Go to the local tourist office for leaflets on suggested routes, or visit http://www.gr-infos.com/gr-an.htm for hiking routes (grandes randonnées).  You'll also enjoy walking along the bank of the Couesnon River from Pontorson to Mont St Michel.
